the tigh way

*tigh, pronounced tigg or tee depending on where you live on the island of Ireland is the Irish word for home, homestead or cluster.

Core beliefs

my design philosophy is rooted in the belief that homes should be experienced, through every sense and not just visual. When these fundamentals are honoured, I believe that beauty unfolds naturally beyond trend, style or budget to create authentic ‘lived-in’ spacees.

Creative vision

I believe that homes should be designed for everyday living. Spaces where comfort and welcome outweigh concerns for mess or disorder and where authenticity allows material, atmosphere and feeling to be lead.

inspiration

I’m drawn to natural materials that tell their story over time, growing more beautiful through wear and age, where every mark becomes part of a home’s evolving narrative, a sensibility reflected in the japanese aesthetic ‘wabi’. I look to concrete, oak, metal, linen, leather, handwoven textiles and stone when seeking to create purposeful interiors.

The shifting tones of our Irish coastline, alongside the richness of our heritage and culture, provide an unending source of quiet inspiration.

detail and precision I believe in paring back to the essential and ironing out what really matters. I look at materials and surfaces in detail, their junction, how they respond to their environment and how they work in context.

simplicity I look to clarify the design process and simplifying decision-making by only choosing items that we love, need or that have connection to us. I believe in simple design for functionality and longevity, reducing visual noise and for passing onto the next generation.

where beauty is felt the tigh way is about how I experience beauty in my everyday. From elevating the everyday practice of tasks, to incorporating daily rituals to help make us feel more grounded and connected in our space through hand made objects

our space beautiful while supporting our community of designer-makers and visual artists incorporating their handcraft into our homes to elevate the everyday practice of tasks and rituals. Let’s embrace familiarity through fleeting moments of recurring sound, memory scent, light and shadow throughout our day. Let’s begin to weave your narrative and craft a home that speaks of you.
